Celebrity Lookalike Jobs Agency Work

If you have the good fortune (or the bad luck!) to look like a TV or film star, member of a pop band or a singer then why not use your looks to earn some money as a celebrity lookalike. Everyone loves famous people and there are situations where you can get paid because you look like a favourite star. You could choose to be your own agent and secure your own employment, or stay on the books of agencies. Some of these will be listed throughout this article.

Lookalikes

If you look like Ricky Gervais and can do the David Brent dance from The Office then you are onto a winner. If you can wiggle your pelvis and sound like Elvis Presley then you can get paid to perform. Other celebrity lookalikes get paid to pout like Marilyn Monroe or look beautiful like Jordan (Katie Price) and David Beckham. You could even tote a fake gun and wear a tuxedo like James Bond.

Some get together and form a tribute band. We remember paying for concert tickets to a Cliff Richard and the Shadows band. The guitarist looked just like Hank Marvin and played just as well and the singer sung almost as well as Cliff Richard. Together they were a great act and we had a super night out. The act did this as a full time job, touring around the country.

It is even available to people who can imitate a specific voice. This could include radio ads or making recordings of mobile phone ring tones or joke phone calls. Some may not even need you to talk. These can include model lookalikes who may for example be promoting a new car in a shopping centre and need to lie on the bonnet looking alluring whilst the salesmen start selling to the admiring blokes.

Celebrity Lookalike Agency

There are many celebrity lookalike agencies around the country and it would be worth joining more than one. There are many on the internet and you can upload your biography and photograph to their website. This gives you the advantage of getting employment and recognition nationwide.

A celebrity lookalike agency will not normally charge for you to be on their books, though some charge a small one off administration fee. Normally you only pay a commission to a celebrity lookalike agent for any secured through him or her.

An agent can often get you more offers and labours behind the scenes securing you more employment and doing the administration jobs whilst you concentrate on appearances. It can include TV and film, media events, conferences, television or radio adverts, corporate functions, opening new shops, offices or shopping centres, photo shoots, charity appearances, opening village fetes or country shows, award ceremonies, product launches, weddings, bar mitzvahs and private parties.

Rates of pay for celebrity lookalike work vary depending on the popularity of who you look like.

Some agencies and agents can secure you travelling expenses. For example if you are the only Peter Kaye impersonator in the UK and someone in Lancashire or even his hometown of Bolton wants to hire you for a private party and you live in Aberdeen you could secure train fare and overnight accommodation. If not you could claim this as an income tax expense. Other expenses you could claim as a tax expense against earnings could include hair cuts and styling, wigs, make up, clothes and costumes and props. You could also claim against voice or dance classes.

Any income earned should be declared to the inland revenue on your annual self assessment form.
