Some reality television shows will pay you to appear in them whilst others will reward the winner. Though
some may not pay you, they may refund any expenses you incur such as loss of earnings, travelling costs, clothing,
etc.
Where you can make money from appearing on them is through the exposure in newspapers and magazines,
selling your story or giving TV or radio interviews. There are other opportunities such as appearing in panto like
Big Brother winners. For example the winner of the first Big Brother, Craig Phillips, became a panto star and presented shows like Housecall, Trading Up, 60 Minute Makeover,
Renovation Street, If It's Broke, Fit It and Craig's Trade Tips on various channels including BBC1 and ITV.
Some stars and celebrities have gone on to appear regularly on television screens in different programmes. One star of Castaway, which was shown on BBC1 in 2000, was Ben Fogle. He now has a regular presenting job. He has appeared in shows such as Crufts Dog Show, BBC Extreme Dreams, Cash In The Attic and Animal Park.

Reality Television Programs
Do remember that reality television programs will be seen by many people and they will form impressions of you depending on your behaviour and reactions to others.
Producers will be filming and recording you 24 hours a day. At some stage you are bound to slip
up and say or do something you may not be proud of when you later come out of that unusual situation. No-one, other
than the other contestants, will know how extreme the situation was and may not empathise with you. Film and
sound can be edited carefully to show you in a certain light.
Going in blind to some like Come Dine With Me might mean you get celebrity status, but you may have to eat with someone you may not get on with. Producers
will team up opposites so that a chemistry reaction occurs!
Millions of people may have seen you and feel they know you personally and won't think twice about coming
over to tell you what they think of you or want to be your new best friend.
Appearing on It's Me Or The Dog with Victoria Stilwell may alert your neighbours and friends into the bad and disgusting behaviour of your dog!
However if you feel you can cope with this then why not get involved. It could be fun, lucrative and give you 15 minutes of fame. You could end up a millionaire like the late Jade Goody or find love like Chantelle! Though they are often ridiculed, Jedward are reported to have made over £6 million since they appeared on the X Factor.
